6 Months!

6 months ago I had this precious little Peanut. It is so crazy that she is already 6 months old and I wish time would slow down a little bit. That said, it is so fun to see her little personality develop and watch how quickly she grows and changes each month.

At six months, Hadley:
 - continues to sleep through the night, anywhere from 10-12 hours
 - loves all types of baby food, especially green peas (gross)
 - loves hanging out with her cousins and she thinks Mickie is so funny
 - enjoys being outside and taking baths
 - sits up on her own
 - is trying to scoot, but is frustrated when she can't get where she wants. She usually resorts to rolling over and finding a new toy instead

There isn't much that Hadley doesn't like and we are so lucky to have such a sweet, happy baby. Her teachers at school told me she reminds them of Piglet, thanks to her huge appetite and her easy going nature. We have her 6 month appointment on Monday and I'm excited to see how big she is now. I would guess around 15 lbs, but it's hard to tell. She is filling out 3-6 month clothes and her head is definitely big and it's hard to find bows that fit properly. No worries though, I'll keep looking!

Here's to the best half-year of my life. I can't wait to see what the next six months bring to our family!

Weekend Fun and a Sick Baby

So I'm a few days late, but I wanted to give an update on this past weekend. After a crazy six weeks of packing, moving, unpacking, and traveling we were excited to have a quiet weekend at home just the three of us. I had a difficult week at work and was really looking forward to a break. Friday in particular was a rough day, but Hadley's teachers helped to turn the day around by sending a sweet picture of Hadley and Sadie Kay together in their class.

I love living so close to Tina and Justin and on Friday night we walked to the village for dinner and met our friends Cody and Emma and their new baby, Ruby. Our Friday nights have definitely changed in the past three years, but I love the chaos and noise that is the new background to our meals.

On Saturday, we ignored our to do list and enjoyed a day together, playing and watching movies. I was even able to start a new book and enjoy a long nap. Perfect day in my book! On Sunday morning Jas stayed home to do yard work while Hadley and I visited a new church in Overland Park. We had been there once before and the second time was just as enjoyable as the first visit. We are planning to continue visiting and I am excited to see how we feel moving forward.

On Sunday afternoon, Hadley was not acting like her normal, happy self. She was clingy and more tired than normal, taking three naps throughout the afternoon. Since starting daycare she has had a near constant cough that seemed to get worse after traveling to Atlanta. She slept through the night, though she was pretty restless, and I decided to take her back to the pediatrician on Monday afternoon.

This was our third visit in three weeks and I'm afraid Dr. Brown may think I'm a bit crazy. It's apparently just a never ending virus and I was told to be prepared for a continuous cold throughout her first year. When we were leaving I realized that I will be back in the office on the 25th for Hadley's six month appointment - we are keeping that place in business! Despite not being quite herself, Hadley was still the happiest baby in the office!

Hadley's First Trip to Atlanta

What a whirlwind weekend we had! On Thursday after work we flew to Atlanta to spend the weekend with our family and friends celebrating the baptism of our niece, Sadie Kay. The first two nights, we stayed with my best friend Robyn and her husband Paul in their new apartment in Atlanta. We had such a great time with them and I love that Hadley was able to get some quality time with one set of godparents. Robyn is such a great hostess and we had a wonderful time eating, drinking and catching up together.
Hadley's First Flight - she looks terrified, but slept the entire time after takeoff!
On Friday, we cooked out at the pool and Hadley loved swimming. I think it helped that the water was very warm, but I'm glad she is no longer terrified of the water. That afternoon, Robyn cut and colored my hair which was such a nice treat and helped to get me ready for the pictures of the weekend.

That night, Robyn hosted a dinner party and Hadley was able to meet some of my favorite ladies - Mara, Meghan and Mellisa. Meghan brought her daughter Elliana who is just so precious and I loved seeing our girls together! My in-laws were able to join us on Friday as well and the whole night made me even more excited for Hadley to meet the rest of our family the following day.

On Saturday, we went to my parents house where we had "siblings breakfast" and then we spent a couple of hours at the pool before the party. My oldest niece Rowan loved Hadley and just kept asking to carry her around and have her picture taken. She was great and Hadley thought she was so funny!

Saturday afternoon my parents hosted a party at their house and we had about 50 people in and out throughout the afternoon. It was so great to see everyone and I loved watching Hadley interact with everyone. After being a bit overwhelmed initially, she calmed down and her easy going nature took over. She loved meeting everyone and getting all sorts of kisses and cuddles. It meant so much to me to see my grandparents with her and I wish the night could have lasted longer!

On Sunday morning we went to St. Oliver's Catholic Church (my childhood church) for Sadie Kay's baptism, followed by a family lunch at Provino's. It was such a special morning and it was great to spend a little more time with the family before we headed out. We flew home Sunday night and I think we are still feeling the effects of our trip. I am so tired and still trying to get back into the swing of things. The baby is tired too and has been napping for at least three hours a day at school (and more than 5 hours on Monday!) and she still sleeps through the night. I am hoping we can relax a bit this weekend and it will help to recharge the batteries a bit.

Getting baptized is exhausting...

All in all Hadley's first trip down south was a huge success and I am so happy we were able to be there, if only for a few days. We won't be heading down south again until Christmas when we go to Charleston to see Jason's family, so we have started the countdown!

Love my Little Family!

Grandparents and Fireworks

My parents just returned home after visiting for a few weeks. They had a great time with the grand babies and kept joking that they were going to steal them all when they left (maybe not a joke!) While they were here we enjoyed lots of good food, good drinks and time together. It is fun watching my parents as grandparents - it is obvious they get so much joy from the little ones.

While they were here, Cerner Kids hosted it's annual 4th of July Parade. The kids all get dressed up and the older children perform different songs. It is always cute and this year was no exception.

My parents left on Sunday morning and Jason and I decided to have a low-key 4th.We spent the day just the three of us, watching movies and relaxing together. After the past few weeks it was nice to have some down time as a family.

This weekend we are going home to Atlanta for Sadie Kay's baptism. I am so excited to go home even for a short trip and I am looking forward to seeing everyone. I can't wait for everyone to meet Hadley and I know they will all love her as much as we do!
