Mothers Day and Other Happenings

What a busy month it has been! With Jas traveling and work being crazy for me, I haven't had time to do much past laundry. I will try to recap the past few weeks here.

I was thrilled to celebrate my second mother's day. It's still hard to believe some days that I am a mom! Jas was sweet and let me have a day just like I wanted. He bought me a beautiful necklace and I had a great time with my girl.

Hadley is continuing to have fun in school and I love seeing pictures of her throughout the day. She is always learning new skills and we are surprised by the things she will do now. She cleans her plate, likes closing doors, and turning off lights. She continues to use sign language and that has been very helpful since she has only a few words. She signs more, please, all done, stop, and mine. Her favorites are more and mine!

She is still a great sleeper, averaging 12 hours overnight and still two naps on the weekend. As is evidenced by her awesome bedhead:

Not a great post, but I'll try to be better moving forward!

Babies in Bathtubs

I've been accused of taking too many pictures (ain't no shame in my mamarazzi game) since Hadley came along, but I don't let the haters get me down and I snap away happily. Recently I've been logging a lot of  hours at work and Jas has been traveling 50% of the time. I have had limited time with Hadley at the end of the day, usually having just enough time for a poorly crafted dinner and a quick bath before she is ready to get her beauty rest (she still requires 12 hours a night and would love to get two naps a day!)

Because she loves the bath, that tends to be the backdrop of many pictures these days. I have started telling Jason that I am going to quit working and start making a living taking pictures of babies in bathtubs...there is just nothing sweeter!

As much as she likes the bath typically, it's not always enough to help when she's had a rough day of toddling...

Her little faces either crack me up or break my heart, but I love that you never wonder how she is feeling!

Happy Easter (late again!)

Somebunny has been very busy lately and cannot remember to update this as she would like! The past month has been so busy with work and Jason traveling that I am very far behind in updating the blog.

Despite being busy, the past few weeks have been a lot of fun. Hadley is at such a fun age, exploring everything and trying to walk and talk. I keep thinking she's about to start walking, but so far we just get 4 steps before she lunges forward or plops down on her bottom. Hopefully soon because she is getting heavy!

At the end of March, we went to the wedding of Jason's coworker, Katie. It was so beautiful and we had a great time celebrating the happy couple!

In mid-April, we celebrated the first birthday of Hadley's "boyfriend" Hudson. It was so cute and we had a great time!

And then, finally Easter! What a fun day with my favorite little bunny. What a blessing she is!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! (and other random thoughts)

It's been a while since my last post so this one is a bit random. Work has been very busy for both me and Jason and I have been a bit overwhelmed with life. So here's a little recap of the last few weeks all rolled into one.

Today, this little leprechaun was looking cute and she's ready to celebrate the luck of the Irish! I got the onesie at a consignment sale a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure it's a boys shirt, but I figure with a bow and pink shoes she can make the look work!

We have had a fun couple of weeks now that Hadley seems to be settling into the toddler classroom. She is staying awake until 7:00 most nights (big accomplishment!) and I am loving having some extra time with her in the evenings.

She continues to try and walk and I think she is getting closer. It is so fun to watch her exploring and we are trying to prepare for her to be into everything here soon! One set of Hadley's godparents, Robyn and Paul, recently sent her this toy and she loves it. Her balance isn't always good enough for her to walk with it, but she laughs whenever the balls pop.

We have always been lucky that Jas is such a good cook (because Lord knows I'm not even trying!) but recently he also made his first pie. Based on her face, I think it was a success!

Dr. Seuss Spirit Week

It was spirit week at Hadley's new school, and the theme was celebrating Dr. Seuss. I had a good time getting everything together, though I have found I'm not quite as creative or crafty as I would like. But I keep telling myself it's the intention that matters so hopefully she'll be grateful for what I did rather than embarrassed by how ridiculous she looked!

Monday was hat day, and Hadley was less than thrilled. She cried all morning so we were both pretty frazzled by the time we got to school and work. Look at that pitiful face!

Tuesday was Silly Sock day and luckily she seemed to be in a much better mood!

Wacky Wednesday was a hit!

Thursday was Dr. Seuss' birthday and this is what I put together.

Friday's theme was red and blue day, and I think this is my favorite. She just looked so cute!

Hadley Does Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I admit I am a bit of a romantic - I love a good rom com, a Nicholas Sparks novel, a sappy love song and the stories of fate and decades long romance can always bring me to tears. Despite my affection for all things lovey-dovey, I've never been a big fan of Valentine's Day. I am lucky to have a very thoughtful and considerate husband who cooks dinner nightly and brings flowers home regularly. He also has great taste in jewelry and spoils me on my birthday and Mother's Day. Because of this, I sometimes forget the hoopla that surrounds Valentine's Day.

This year though, I realized I now get to celebrate through Hadley and you know what that means....a new decorative dress and homemade Valentines treats were a necessity! We found her cute dress on sale at Old Navy for $9 dollars. We paired it with black tights and of course a bow and she looked as cute as can be.

Over the weekend we went shopping and I found mini mason jars. I decorated them with stickers and ribbon. We used the picture of Hadley that we got for her birthday as the tag for each gift.

The teachers had jars of Hershey kisses with a tag that read "Here are some kisses especially for you, thank you so much for all that you do!"

The kids had jars of goldfish with a tag that read "I'm so glad we are in the same school!"

I'm not the most creative person in general, but I had a good time and I think they turned out pretty cute. I am sure the other kids in her class couldn't have cared less about anything other than eating the snack, but one day I hope she will appreciate the effort!

And.....another one bites the dust!

Well, it's not actually "another one" - it's the same one. Hadley returned to school on Tuesday and by Wednesday afternoon I got a phone call that she had a low grade fever, wasn't eating or drinking and had not had a wet diaper all day. Fearing she was dehydrated, we took her to the doctor to learn her stomach flu has now morphed into an ear infection. She is now on an antibiotic and a probiotic and we are hoping for the best. I'm so ready for her to be healthy for a stretch of time so we can get into a stable routine and enjoy the family time we get together. It's not much fun when "family time" consists of stripping dirty sheets, administering meds and begging your child to drink fluids.

The weather in Kansas City is supposed to be great this week - sunny and in the 60s. We are hoping to be out and about all weekend enjoying some time together. Fingers crossed we can make it happen!
